Combining massage with an osteopath, physiotherapist or chiropractor
Last week we looked at the three practices of osteopathy, physiotherapy and chiropractic and how they differ from each other. All three of these practices do occasionally use massage as part of their treatment of patients, but it is not a focus and is not done a great deal. So, in this blog we are going to look at how you can benefit from combining regular massage with your treatment from an osteopath, physiotherapist or chiropractor.
What is the difference between an osteopath, physiotherapist and chiropractor?
Osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors. I'm sure you'll have heard of them all before and maybe you've even been helped out by one or more of them in the past, but what's the difference? Well, there are many similarities between the three medical practices and they are largely working towards the same goals but by using slightly different techniques and following different schools of thought.
Sports massage is not just for athletes
You may think of sports massage as something that elite and professional athletes need in order to keep up with their intense training programmes and to get them in tip top shape for upcoming competitions, matches or races. While sports massage is extremely beneficial in these situations, you definitely do not have to be a top athlete in order to benefit from sports massage and, despite what the name suggests, don't even need to do any sport.
