What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a treatment that helps to reduce pain and restore or improve the functional movement of your muscles and joints. It’s therefore suitable for anyone wanting to overcome an existing injury or prevent future injuries, as well as various other medical conditions.

Our physiotherapists focus on helping the problem area whilst also assessing your entire musculoskeletal system and the effect the issue is having on the mobility and movement of your body as a whole.

What conditions can physiotherapy help with?

Back Pain, Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Knee Pain:

Slipped/herniated discs, whiplash, scoliosis, sciatica, shoulder impingement, trapped nerves, bursitis, ligament strains/tears, IT band syndrome.

Sporting Injuries:

Muscle tears, tendonitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, sprains, frozen shoulder, golfer’s elbow, tennis elbow.

Women’s Health:

Pelvic girdle pain, symphysis pubis disorder, continence issues.

Other Conditions:

Long-term chronic pain, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI (repetitive strain injuries), stroke, multiple sclerosis, rebuilding muscle and mobility after joint replacements.

What type of physiotherapy do you offer?

We offer MSK (musculoskeletal) physiotherapy and our team of professional, experienced physiotherapists are fully insured and registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

What does a physiotherapy treatment involve and what can I expect from my first appointment?

Your appointment will include a full clinical assessment to understand your condition and your physio treatment may include a variety of techniques, including soft tissue massage, sports massage, acupuncture and resistance exercises. Your physiotherapist will select the most appropriate techniques and exercises to best assist your rehabilitation and recovery.

At the end of the appointment, you will be given a treatment plan, which will include exercises to help lessen your recovery time, restore movement and function and reduce pain. These exercises will be tailored to suit you and can be performed either at home or in the gym. To help maximise your rehabilitation, a course of treatments may be recommended to you.

For your initial appointment, the physiotherapist will need to see you for a 1-hour face-to-face appointment. Follow-up appointments will be 30 minutes or 45 minutes, depending on your needs.
